Some insight...

BS has amazed me the past few days with some of her developing spiritual insight. We often wonder how much our kids retain of devotional time, Sunday School, etc. -- and then it just pops out...

In the bath, the girls were playing in the water and BS leaned forward, flipped her hair forward, and started swirling the ends in the water with her hands. She said, "Look Mommy, it's like when that lady in the Bible put perfume on Jesus' feet!" !!!

We were in the car this week and a Fernando Ortega song was playing that talked a bit about a mother's heart being broken. BS asked, "Did he say, 'breaking?' Like when you break a lamp?" I said yes, but explained that when someone uses the term "Breaking someone's heart" they don't mean physically breaking it -- it means doing something that makes someone really really sad. She pondered this for a moment and said, "Mommy, God doesn't like it when we do that to someone, does He??" No, dearest, he doesn't.

The mealtime battles with LS have resumed, and become more intense with the presence of Halloween candy and treats to be had if dinner is finished in a reasonable time. Mommy latest approach: setting a timer for a reasonable time when we start eating, and she must be finished (or within a bite of finishing) by the time it goes off to get dessert. Hasn't completely worked yet, but last night we got very close...we'll see! She may still be finishing that Halloween candy on Valentine's Day!!

This is the best way for us, as Moms, to see the spiritual growth of our children, without having to drill them everyday. I know that there will probably be many more times that we will feel like they're just not 'getting it', but then, it's times like these that make us sit back and say, "Wow. . . . they really ARE getting it!"

Good job, Mommy Galvin!

Good job, MIss Emma!
